Erzberg Rodeo: rock stops Matt Green. The story of a crazy race

Erzberg Rodeo, the iconic Extreme race, annually sees over 2,000 riders compete in a two-day prologue to try and finish in the top 500 positions for Sunday's main event, the 800-meter climb up the "iron mountain." Only our own Matt Green was present, as Wade Young is injured. In Friday's prologue, Matt rode well but without taking risks, securing a front-row spot for the main event. In Saturday's second prologue, he pushed a little harder, securing a solid 21st place, lining up in the first half of the front row for Sunday's race start. After a strong start, after just over an hour of racing, he was sitting in a solid seventh place when, while riding a steep slope, he was literally hit by a boulder that rolled downhill. Luckily, it only hit his bike, destroying his headlight and electrical system and breaking his right fork, thus ending his race. In any case, Matt was very lucky not to be hit by the boulder, which would have surely caused him a very serious injury… We'll see you at the US round of the World Championship, which will take place on the weekend of June 20-21.
