Basic Rat Trap - How I made It Work Better

This wooden Rat Trap was purchased for a large RAT I saw in my house. Also purchased a TomCat model that was more money. After not having much luck with this wooden RAT TRAP, I figured out why it was having the bait taken and not setting off the trap. This is my Product Review submitted to Tractor Supply (TSC) who refused to publish my product review of one of their products. After a RAT set off a mouse trap in my house, I saw this bunny size rat kinda dazed from the small spring trap. The next day, I went to my local Tractor Supply store to get a serious RAT TRAP. I had trouble with the Victor trap, the bait was gone and the trap was intact. This is what I found to fix the problem. (1) The spring was against the trip lever causing interference. If you spread the two wires on the spring, it allows the trip lever to move freely and its more sensitive. (2) Fasten the bait to the trip lever ( a zip tie works great) and use either some peanut butter or a meat smelling bait. (3) If the metal frame does not close firmly against the wood, use a thin piece of wood to add more spring tension, I used a bottle cap and it hit hard enough to take out a small mouse... These tips should help you with success.
