Madness – “One Better Day” (UK Stiff) 1984

Written by Graham McPherson and Mark Bedford. Produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley. A #17 UK hit for Madness in the summer of 1984. It was featured on their album, “Keep Moving” (UK #6), which yielded another hit, the group’s tribute to their hero and fellow Londoner, “Michael Caine”. The sax playing is by group member, Lee Thompson. The writers here, Graham McPherson and Mark Bedford were also members of the group. Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley had produced all of Madness’ work. In addition they worked with Elvis Costello, Bush and David Bowie and Mick Jagger, for whom they produced the UK #1 hit (#7 US), “Dancing In The Street”.
