1999 Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit - On approach to T3, Cristiano da Matta hits Mauricio Gugelmin from behind. Gugelmin vaults onto Patrick Carpentier, sending the car into a flip. Gugelmin would be the main focus of the crash due to its spectacular nature, but thankfully he was okay However, Carpentier was in some serious discomfort due to a neck injury from contact with Gugelmin.
