Truax scores championship fight win

He came to the sport of boxing later than most pros, and stands out for being the rare pro boxer with a college degree. Saturday in London, Osseo's Caleb Truax reached the top of the mountain in his sport. Truax beat British fighter James DeGale to win the IBF world super middleweight (168 pound) championship. Truax took control of the fight in the middle rounds, punishing DeGale with sharp clean shots in the fifth round. DeGale was pinned against the ropes for much of the night as Truax sought to fight in close quarters rather than in the center of the ring. While the first judge's scorecard that was announced had it as a draw, the other two judges had Truax winning comfortably as he grabbed the belt in his second shot at a major title.
