Local policing: How involved is the community?

Safer Neighbourhood Boards (SNBs) and Ward Panels were both created to get communities more involved in local policing issues in their areas. In recent years, however, questions have been raised about the public’s awareness of the ways communities can engage with the police. The Police & Crime Committee will assess the impact of SNBs and Ward Panels on community engagement with the police and on holding local policing to account. It will also assess the support that MOPAC and the Met provide to SNBs and Ward Panels in their work. The guests are: Carole Atkinson MBE, Richmond SNB Chris Weavers, Bethnal Green Ward Panel David Millar, Hammersmith and Fulham SNB Gill Close, Brent SNB and Dollis Hill Ward Panel Kim Howell, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea SNB Martyn Kingsford OBE, Teddington and Hampton Wick Ward Panel Sharon Jobe, Islington SNB Tayo Prince, LCP2 Vice-Chair and Lewisham SNB Wendy Kyrle-Pope, LCP2 and Chair of the Independent Advisory Group for BTP
