Sri Lankan Forces Set High Standards in the fight against Terrorism The Secretary to Ministry of Defence , the three armed forces chiefs and the head of the Sri Lanka Police formally reported to Sri Lankas President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the success of the humanitarian operation to liberate the Tamil civilians held under the yoke of the LTTE and of the historic military victory over the LTTE at a formal ceremonial function at Temple Trees this evening. President Rajapaksa, who is also the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, received the defense chiefs at the Temple trees this evening. Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Air Vice Marshall Donald Perera of the Ministry of Defence, all heads of the Security Forces in Sri Lanka, including Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka, of the Sri Lanka Army, Vice Admiral Vasantha Karannagoda of the Sri Lanka Navy, Air Marshall Roshan Gunatillake of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Sarath Weerasekera Director General of Civil Defence and Jayantha Wickremaratne, Inspector General of Police also formally reported to President this evening of the end of the war against terrorism in the country. The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam a banned terrorist outfit , which was proscribed in Sri Lanka, as well as in India, USA, Canada and in all the 27 European Union countries, was believed to be invincible and had been responsible for battering Sri Lankans for thirty long years in a bid to bifurcate the country. The end of the war against LTTE terrorism and the LTTEs defeat ushered in once again a unitary state free from terror in Sri Lanka.
