Welcome to episode thirteen of 'Rambles through History' with presenter James Balme. In this episode entitled 'St Edith and the Normans' James takes us to Shocklach in Cheshire strategically placed on the English and Welsh border separated only by the river Dee. Join James as he pays a visit to the isolated Norman church constructed in the year of 1150 AD. The church is dedicated to St Edith of Polesworth, a sister of Edward the Elder. See for yourself this wonderful historical place as James walks around the ancient churchyard telling stories from the past history of this ancient site. James also takes us through the Norman doorway and inside St Edith's to see this beautifully preserved medieval church with the nave dating to the 12th century whilst the chancel is dated to the 14th century. A wonderful history tour of an ancient Norman church and not one to be missed. The film is complemented with stunning aerial footage shot in 4K by James. #jamesbalme #tvpresenter4history #cheshirelife
