For PDF Join Telegram Group - BankingAndFinancial RBI Postpones Phase-II Implementation of Cheque Truncation System (CTS) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has postponed the implementation of Phase-II of Continuous Clearing and Settlement on Realisation (CCSR) under the Cheque Truncation System (CTS), which was earlier scheduled for 3 January 2026, until further notice. The decision, issued under the Payment and Settlement Systems (PSS) Act, 2007, aims to give banks additional time to streamline operational and technological processes. Under the revised arrangement, Phase-I of CCSR, which began on 4 October 2025, will continue, allowing banks to process and confirm cheques through continuous digital clearing during working hours. RBI has also revised CTS working hours, with the presentation session shifted to 9 am–3 pm (earlier 10 am–4 pm), while banks must now confirm or reject cheques between 9 am and 7 pm (earlier 10 am–7 pm).
