Easy DIY Pencil Skirt with Wide Elastic Waistband | Easy Pencil Skirt Pattern

In this video I will show you how I make a pencil skirt (and liner) with a wide elastic waistband. This skirt is made by drafting a pattern from clothing you may already have in your closet. The steps are as follows: (1) Trace a straight skirt that you currently have onto pattern paper (or use my instructions from my sweatshirt into a pencil skirt tutorial to take your own body measurements), add seam allowance (I used 1.5 cm) to your pattern. (2) Lay out skirt pattern onto fabric, and cut out. (3) Stitch the side seams of the skirt. (4) Draft the pattern for the skirt liner (making it smaller than the skirt pattern by 1.5 cm), (5) Lay out liner pattern onto fabric and cut out. (6) Stitch the side seams of the liner. (7) Stitch the liner to the skirt, at the top of the skirt (waistline). (8) Measure the length of the elastic band (I used a 3-inch wide black elastic band) needed to fit the waistline of the skirt. (9) Stitch the elastic band ends together (to make a continuous loop). (10) Attach the elastic band to the waistline of the skirt. (11) Hem the bottom of the skirt. *************************************************************** DISCLAIMER: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
