Me and a friend were out at Naperville, watching the end of the evening Metra rush, when we noticed ambulances and police cars congregating around the Naperville station building. A few minutes later, we were approached by a Naperville police officer, who informed us to keep an eye out for two women who were seen earlier walking the tracks. We phoned BNSF police to let them know as well. But just five minutes later, sure enough, the two women came running down Main 2 (the center track), with a Metra express run barrelling right for them on that track. Literally just 9 seconds after the first woman stumbled onto the platform, the train whipped right by. Nine seconds. Had she tripped on the tracks instead of the platform, she'd have been dead instantly. The other woman involved ran behind her, but was not seen at first in this clip. Police were on the scene at the station, and took the two in- whether they gave them a "slap on the wrist" or fined or arrested them for trespassing on railroad property, I don't know. Paramedics showed up beforehand, probably expecting the worst, but luckily they were not needed. I don't know if the women were drunk, high, or just in a rush to catch a train, but it should go without saying that they were putting their lives at serious risk, scaring the hell out of the Metra engineer, and wasting the City of Naperville's police and emergency resources by being so incredibly stupid. These girls were extremely lucky, but many more are not. I'll say it simply: Don't be stupid.
