Soprano Practice: Peccantem me quotidie, Victoria (Requiem 4vv)

This is the Soprano section’s practice video for the Responsorium “Peccantem me quotidie,” from “Missa pro defunctis” (for 4 voices) by Tomas Luis de Victoria. Authorship and editing as indicated in the video. Keep in mind that there is a discrepancy between the audio and the score in the text “libera me.” Also, the A/T/B recordings contain a soprano B-flat in measure 11 that the sopranos should not observe. The soprano recording has the correct B-natural, as indicated in the score. Translation: I who sin every day / and am not penitent / the fear of death troubles me: [Responsum:] For in hell there is no redemption. / Have mercy upon me, O God, and save me. [Versus:] God, in your name save me, / and in your virtue set me free. [Responsum:] For in hell there is no redemption. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
