Coffee is now the UK's favourite hot drink, with 95 million cups being consumed every day. Unfortunately, this often means a large amount of plastic is used to serve drinks in single use plastic cups, or to package and protect coffee sold in supermarkets. The UK coffee industry produces around 100 million plastic packs every year. Unable to be recycled, they generally end up in landfill or natural ecosystems for hundreds of years.
