Sun bears are the world's smallest bears; they may also be the world's rarest bears. Named after the sun-shaped mark on their chests, sun bears are found in forests of southeast Asia and spend most of their time in the trees. As an arboreal species, they sometimes even construct nests out of leaves and sleep in the trees! They're the Tarzan of bears! Sun bears have exceptionally long tongues they'll use to lick up honey and arthropods. They have long claws to dig into food sources and forward facing eyes which give them binocular vision. Sun bears are facing threats to their survival in the form of deforestation and hunting.
