Mark Macon - Brief Pistons Sampler (Six Points, One Dunk vs. Spurs)

February 17, 1994 - Mark Macon was a McDonald's All-American out of Saginaw's Buena Vista High School (Michigan). He averaged over 20.5 points per game in three of his four years at Temple, a sterling collegiate career that culminated in being drafted eighth overall by the Denver Nuggets in 1991. Macon's rookie year may have been his finest, when he averaged 10.6 points per game and was named to the All-Rookie Second Team. Macon was soon overshadowed by the likes of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Bryant Stith and Robert Pack in Denver, leading to the Pistons acquiring his rights (alongside Marcus Liberty) in exchange for Alvin Robertson early in the 1993-94 regular season. Macon initially played three seasons for the Pistons, topping out with a 5.0 point per game scoring average in 1994-95. After spending two seasons splitting time between the CBA and Italy, Macon returned for one final year in Detroit, appearing in seven games for the Pistons during the lockout shortened 1998-99 season. As notable as Macon's six-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs may have been, this game is more frequently recalled for David Robinson's quadruple-double (34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 blocks).
