Lightning Strike Causes House Fire in Satsuma

SATSUMA, Ala. (WPMI) Satsuma Fire-Rescue Chief Clyde Miller says a lightning strike from an overnight storm was the cause of a fire that destroyed a home early Friday morning. Neighbors and family say the house located on 7th Street belonged to former Satsuma Mayor, Charles Little. Chief Miller says the family was able to help the former mayor out of the home before it was consumed by the flames. Little has been sick for some time according to family members who declined to appear on camera. The former mayor and his family that went into the house were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation. Chief Miller says fires like this can be common during storms with frequent cloud-to-gound lightning.
