TODAY: We are now into the “40 Days” of Lent. The first day was Ash Wednesday – 18 February. The fortieth day shall be Great Sabbath – Holy Saturday – 4 April. There are 46 days in that span. How is it that we speak of Lent as 40 days? Remember that Sundays are not of Lent, but in Lent: Lenten Days 1 – 4: Wednesday 18 February through Saturday 21 February. Lenten Days 5 – 10: Monday 23 February through Saturday 28 February. Lenten Days 11 – 16: Monday 2 March through Saturday 7 March. Lenten Days 17 – 22: Monday 9 March through Saturday 14 March. Lenten Days 23 – 28: Monday 16 March through Saturday 21 March. Lenten Days 29 – 34: Monday 23 March through Saturday 28 March. Lenten Days 35 – 40: Monday 30 March through Saturday 4 April. Even on Sundays in Lent, we proclaim and celebrate Resurrection, as we do every Sunday throughout the year. As we do so, we continue exploring the Epistle of James over the 8 Sundays from Sunday 1 February through Sunday 22 March. St. Stephen's Outreach Ministry gives away clothes and food Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 PM to 3 PM. Donations of Food and Clothing and Volunteers are welcomed and appreciated. We are now a part of a new diocese – The Episcopal Diocese of the Susquehanna! St. Stephen's is one of four cathedrals of the new Diocese [St. Stephen’s Harrisburg & Nativity Bethlehem as Cathedrals and we and Trinity Williamsport as Pro-Cathedrals]. We give thanks for our diocese and the wider Church and pray for the greater unity and visibility of the Church with the mindfulness that this is the desire of Jesus! We give thanks for our sister parish and Pro-Cathedral in Williamsport, with whom we have a unique relationship, and we pray for their clergy, lay leaders, and all their people!
