After being expelled from seven schools, 15-year-old James "Jimmy" Hopkins is sent to Bullworth Academy, the town's prominent private boarding school, for a year while his mother and her new husband are on their honeymoon. Designed in a neo-Gothic style, the school campus resembles public schools and colleges in the United Kingdom and New England, such as Fettes College in Edinburgh.
