Middle East - Israeli Police Clash With Settlers

(1 Aug 1995) T/I 10:12:28 For the third straight day Israeli settlers clashed with police on Tuesday (1/8) as they were evacuated from tents built on disputed terrority in the West Bank. The settlers had camped out in Beit-El Gimmel -- located near the West Bank town of Ramallah -- for the night. Elsewhere in the West Bank, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin inauguarated the Jericho bypass road. Tuesday's demonstrations followed a march in Tel Aviv on Monday night when thousands of right-wing demonstrators marched through the streets of the city with lit torches. The demonstrators gathered at Dizengoff's number 5 bus station in Tel Aviv, where 22 Israelis were killed during a suicide bus bomb attack last October. SHOWS: TEL AVIV/WEST BANK, 31/7-1/8.
