"The Maple Leaf Forever" is a Canadian patriotic song written by Alexander Muir, who lived from 1830 until 1906. This song was written in 1867, the time that the Canadian Confederation was created, and the song was inspired by a large maple tree that stood in front of Maple Cottage in Toronto. This song was known as the unofficial anthem of the known-then Dominion of Canada, until on July 1, 1980, O Canada became the new national anthem of Canada. Enjoy!
