Prime Minister Scott Morrison has praised the effort of Australians and the federal government in handling COVID-19 but warned the pandemic "is not over" and that there is still a long way to go. "Whether it's on the health road or the economic road, Australians have seen our government respond and respond effectively," Mr Morrison said during a fiery Question Time sitting on Tuesday. He defended the government's handling of the aged care system in the nation and how it coped during the outbreaks of the virus. Mr Morrison said eight per cent of aged care facilities in the country were affected by COVID-19 during the course of the pandemic. He compared this to the United Kingdom, which he said saw 56 per cent of such facilities being impacted. "The responsibilities that we have in relation to the aged care system and providing that support, we have never walked away from that". "And we've worked each and every day to ensure we've sought to mitigate, to lessen the impact of COVID-19 in this country," Mr Morrison said.
