This video deals with a very important class of compounds called salts . Salt is a substance formed when hydrogen of an acid is replaced by a metal. They are formed when acid neutralize base or alkali and also when acid react with metal and metal carbonate. The number of hydrogen atoms in an acid which can be replaced by a metal is called its basicity. For example, sulfuric and carbonic acid have two replaceable hydrogen which can be replaced therfore dibasic. However, phosphoric acid has three hydrogen atoms which can be replaced so tribasic. Acid salt is formed when the hydrogen of an acid is partially replaced by a metal.
