Then pour 2 1/2 cup of normal water and mix well without forming lumps and bring to the consistency of dosa batter. Add salt as required and 1tbsp of coconut oil. Adding coconut oil gives good flavour and makes the idiyappam soft. After stirring well place the kadai over the stove and switch on the flame to medium. Stir continuously. This recipe is very useful and easy for beginners. If you follow this method idiyappam recipe will not be a failure for anyone. Advisable to prepare in a nonstick pan to avoid sticking to the bottom of the pan. When the batter becomes thicker turn on to low flame. Batter should be cooked well on low flame and leave the sides of the pan as shown in the video. Then transfer to a plate and close for 10 minutes so that the dough gets fully cooked and becomes warm. Now apply oil and knead the dough. Then apply oil to the idiyappam maker in order to press smoothly. Apply oil on the idly mould, add scraped coconut and then press idiyappam maker. Now let's keep for steaming. Finally soft, tasty and easy idiyappam is ready to be served with your favourite side dishes.
