This is the Most Dangerous Sign in a Person If You Notice It, Leave Immediately | Padre Pio Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Today I come to you with a grave and urgent message, one that every soul must hear in these perilous times. We live in a world filled with many dangers—not only of the body but of the spirit. And there is one sign, one spiritual disease in a person, so dangerous, so toxic, that when you see it, I tell you with the authority of the saints and the wisdom of the Gospel: leave at once. What is this sign? It is not simply hatred, or violence, or even corruption. No, the most dangerous sign in a person is the hardened heart that no longer fears God. The person who has no fear of the Lord, no sense of right or wrong, who mocks holiness and rejoices in sin—this is the one who is like a walking plague. Padre Pio once said, “He who does not meditate is like a man who never looks in the mirror before going out; he doesn’t care whether he is dirty or clean.” And I tell you: a person who has hardened their heart no longer sees their soul—they no longer care if they are clean before God. When a person is proud, rebellious, and refuses correction—when they treat sin as entertainment, and holiness as foolishness—they are no longer walking in darkness. They have become the darkness. Saint Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3:1-5: “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud… unholy, without love, unforgiving… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” Yes, beloved, have nothing to do with them. Not because we hate them—God forbid! We pray for their conversion. But if you stay in their company, your soul will be infected. Evil spreads like poison in water. Do not say, “I will change them.” Unless you are filled with the grace of God and called for that mission, you will fall. A person with a hardened heart will twist truth into lies, purity into shame, and holiness into mockery. These people drain the soul, crush the spirit, and leave you doubting your own faith. If someone in your life constantly pulls you away from prayer, from Mass, from confession… if they mock your devotion or laugh at your repentance, leave. That soul is not your mission; it is your warning. Padre Pio often warned about the influence of bad company. He said, “Don’t spend time with those who lead you to sin, but be with those who lead you to Christ.” So I beg you: examine the people around you. Who is drawing you closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus? And who is dragging you toward the fires of hell with a smile on their face? We must love all souls, but we must guard our own. Your first duty is the salvation of your soul. No relationship, no friendship, no influence is worth the price of eternal damnation. If you notice this sign—the hardened, mocking, rebellious heart—pray for them from a distance. But do not walk with them. You cannot walk with Christ and walk with darkness at the same time. Remember: Even Jesus Himself, though full of mercy, withdrew from certain places where hearts were too hard to receive Him. How much more should we? May the Lord grant you the discernment to walk in truth and the courage to walk away from darkness.
