(5 Mar 2021) FOR CLEAN VERSION SEE STORY NUMBER: 4314201 New protests against the coup in Myanmar erupted on Friday, with demonstrators taking to the streets of Mandalay in defiance of the country's military rulers. Protesters representing a variety of groups marched along highways, holding placards and chanting slogans. Demonstrations have gathered pace across the country since the army took over and ousted the elected government led by Aung San Suu Kyi at the beginning of last month. Security forces have cracked down violently on some of the protests, killing up to 38 people earlier this week.
