Proton Beam Therapy and Advance Modalities for Head and Neck Cancer (Livestream)

CME on Proton Beam Therapy and Advance Modalities for Head & Neck Cancer Treatment by Dr Lee Kuo Ann and Prof Christopher Goh, in partnership with Academy for Head and Neck Oncology of the Philippines (AHNOP) and Philippines Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (PSO-HNS). Due to the range and complexity of cancers in the head and neck, a multidisciplinary approach is essential to provide the best care to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient. Proton therapy is a highly conformal form of radiotherapy. Compared to X-ray based radiotherapy, much less normal tissue is exposed to low and intermediate doses of radiation. Conventional radiotherapy to the head and neck is associated with considerable temporary and delayed permanent side effects due to the many critical organs in the head. It is expected that proton therapy will reduce some of these side effects by reducing the dose received by some of these critical organs. #protonbeam #cancertreatment
