Watch highlights from the action in 2nd seeded South Plainfield’s 73-48 victory over 3rd seeded West Morris Central in the 2022 NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2 Group 3 Semifinals on Saturday afternoon at Cotoia Gymnasium. The Tigers jumped out to a 16-3 first quarter lead as West Morris Central went without a field goal for the entire period. The Wolfpack closed the gap to 18-11 early in the 2nd before the Tigers went on a 12-3 spurt for a 30-14 lead. South Plainfield would never be threatened after that as the Tigers took a 37-18 halftime lead, and went on to lead by as many as 30 points in the second half on several occasions. Junior Michael Mendez led four South Plainfield players in double figures with a game high 19 points including three treys while Joe Oduro chipped in with 17, Anthony Nigro added 14 including four from long distance and Brandon Dean had 11. Sean Leonard led West Morris Central with a team high 16 points while Owen Christiansen chipped in with 10 in a losing cause.
