What Went Wrong With All-Star Brawl?

Well, no one said game development was easy or simple. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was met with surprise and excitement upon its reveal back in the summer. When it came out in early October, though, the enthusiasm vanished nearly as quickly as it'd appeared, with lukewarm receptions, disappointed reviewers, and an unexpectedly small (though still dedicated) base of players. So...what went wrong?
