So hit that turbo and let’s get boogie! Things start with a flashback to 1998, roughly 4 years before the world’s power is mysteriously turned off, as we get a bit more backstory on Raven from Season 1, introducing her then best friend and probably girlfriend Kelly. The two burn rubber in an old station wagon, similar to the Family Wagon from Twisted Metal 4, later making another appearance as Warthog in Twisted Metal Black and the 2012 reboot. Raven shows Kelly her tarot deck, brandishing the Ten of Swords. Unfortunately Raven is completely wrong about better days on the horizon, because the Ten of Swords card actually means “Hitting Rock Bottom”, as this foreshadows Kelly’s fate at the end of this flashback, drowning in the pool. This is pulling from Raven’s origin story in Twisted Metal Black, with that also having Kelly meeting her fate via drowning, but rather than it being a freak accident, Twisted Metal Black has two jocks bullying Kelly, her pleading she can’t swim, as they toss her off a pier anyway. So quickly we can tell what Raven wants John Doe to drive for, resurrecting Kelly. As Calypso is teased with the Devil tarot card, Black, red, and the guy having ill intentions. Back to present day, which is actually 7 months after the events of Season 1, annnndddd we have a different actress playing Raven.
