FBI Probing San Bernardino Shooting as Terrorism Case

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is treating the San Bernardino mass shooting as an "act of terrorism," officials said on Friday. "As of today, based on the information and facts that we know them, we are now investigating these horrific acts as an act of terrorism," David Bowdich, the FBI assistant director in charge of the Los Angeles office, told a news conference in San Bernardino. Syed Rizwan Farook, who had along with his wife Tashfeen Malik unleashed a bloodbath in a San Bernardino social services center Wednesday, had earlier pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) in a Facebook post on the day of the attack. "We have uncovered evidence that has led us to learn of an extensive planning," Bowdich said. "We also uncovered evidence that these subjects have, they attempted to destroy their digital fingerprints." Farook and Malik stormed into a conference center at Inland Regional Center and fired gunshots at people inside, killing 14 people and wounding 21 others. Most of the victims were colleagues of the husband, who worked as an inspector for the county health department. There is no evidence that the IS had directly instructed the couple, and the FBI is trying to determine what motivated them to carry out the massacre by looking into data on two cellphones believed to be owned by the suspects. "We are continuing to go down the path to ensure that we find all of the evidence that pertains to this matter," Bowdich added. The husband, 28, was born in Illinois and raised in southern California. Ms. Malik, 27, was born in Pakistan and recently lived in Saudi Arabia. More on: http://news.cctvplus.tv/NewJsp/news.j...
