State governments and police will now need the permission of the High Court before withdrawing cases against MPs, MLAs and other officials. The Supreme Court said that 'we need to ensure the disposal of pending cases presiding officers involved in prosecution to continue in present post until further orders'. The SC also said that the direction of court barring judicial officers will be subject to retirement, registrar general of High Courts can seek relaxation against transfer of judges if needed.
