As many as 1 in 4 of our local children are living in poverty and face the winter months without a warm coat to wear. That’s 600 kids going without the most basic essentials right here in the North-east of Scotland. Children in poverty learn to lower their expectations. They learn to cope. They avoid asking for things they know their parents can’t afford. The sad thing is they don’t learn to deal with bullies or being embarrassed and left out.
