Example 1: The heat transfer by conduction - Fourier’s law

A furnace wall is constructed of fire brick with a known thermal conductivity (k) of 1000 𝑊/𝑚𝐾. the dimensions of the furnace wall are 20 m by 20 m, with a thickness of 1 m. If the temperature on the internal surface of the furnace wall is, on average, 1 025 °C and the temperature on the outside is ambient, i.e. 25 °C, what will be the rate of energy leaving the furnace through this wall? Solve using Fourier’s law
