For over 100 years, only one song has been synonymous with the great game of Baseball: "Take Me Out To The Ball Game." The two go perfectly hand in hand. I cannot think of many other songs period, not just songs associated with a game or a sport, in which the love and passion for the event it has been associated with is still as strong as ever. It has had amazing staying power considering it was written in 1908. Most baseball parks play this song at least once (usually during the 7th inning stretch) during every baseball game. Anybody who is anybody has sung this song including: artists, comedians, athletes, politicians, celebrities..you name it they have sung it at a baseball park. Out of all the renditions I heard, and I've heard a lot, New Orleans legend Dr. John's version from Ken Burns' Baseball Documentary from 1994, and most recently 2010, is my all-time favorite. I love Dr. John's signature piano playing and singing style. He adds true feeling to the song and also is another reason why it has been cherished for 100 years and counting.
