Presented By: Kamala Tyagarajan, PhD Speaker Biography: Dr. Kamala Tyagarajan is Director, Flow Cytometry Assays and Applications at Luminex Corporation where her team is responsible for applications and assay development on Luminex's microcapillary based flow cytometry platforms. Dr. Tyagarajan was previously R&D Director, MilliporeSigma, EMD Millipore and Guava Technologies and has brought out a range of flow cytometry products for cellular health, immunology and blood-based diagnostics. Previously, Dr. Tyagarajan worked at Lynx Therapeutics (now Illumina) developing novel fluorescence- based and mass spectrometry based proteomic technologies. Kamala obtained her PhD Degree at University of California, Berkeley and postdoctoral research at UC San Francisco/UC Berkeley working on parietal cell glycobiology and proteomics. Webinar: Serological and Cellular Approaches to COVID-19 Research Using Flow Cytometry Webinar Abstract: Flow cytometry is a powerful technology for investigating questions related to the immune response and its sustenance, as well as detailed mechanisms of COVID-19. Simplified cell-based and biomarker-based strategies can provide rapid insights into these aspects of the disease, and the evaluation of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and their isotypes has become a crucial aspect of COVID-19 research, supporting the development and understanding of vaccine-based strategies. In this webinar, we discuss the results from a new flow cytometry-based assay—the Guava® SARS-CoV-2 Multi-Antigen Antibody Assay. This multiplex, bead-based assay detects the presence of IgG, IgM, and IgA antibodies against multiple SARS-CoV-2 antigens, including the nucleocapsid protein, the receptor-binding domain of the spike protein, and the S1 subunit of the spike protein, with high detection sensitivity. Although the assay was optimized on Luminex’s Guava® Platforms, it can be used on any flow cytometer equipped with either a 488 nm or 532 nm laser. Earn PACE Credits: 1.
