UK Weather Forecast: Thunderstorms In The South And East Tonight (Wednesday 18th May 2022)
Good morning everyone and welcome to today's UK weather forecast on Wednesday 18th May 2022 Current Situation: Low pressure sits to our west with high pressure to the east. We're still drawing up a warm southerly wind and more heavy rain and thunderstorms is likely tonight... Today: Wednesday begins mainly dry with warm spells of sunshine though we have got showers across Scotland. Through the day we'll keep the dry weather going with bright or sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. Showers are likely across south west England and Northern Ireland by late afternoon. Temperatures will be very warm but not quite as hot as yesterday with a range from 15C to 23C. Tonight: Heavy showers and thunderstorms and thunderstorms push northwards across the Midlands, southern and eastern England with torrential rain in places. Further showery outbreaks of rain develop to the north and west but this wet weather shouldn't be as heavy or thundery as further south and east. The second half of the night will see the rain and storms clearing away into the north sea with most places becoming dry. A very warm night in the south east where temperatures fall no lower than 17C but turning cooler and fresher to the north and west. Tomorrow: A much quieter day with a ridge of high pressure bringing mostly dry weather. There will be a mix of bright or sunny spells with variable amounts of cloud. Western Scotland could have a few showers. Temperatures will range from 13C to 21C. Feeling fresher. Outlook: Friday: Showers and longer spells of rain in the north and west while the south east corner might see wet weather clipping in from France. Cooler. Saturday: Showers in the north, dry in the south. Near normal temperatures. Sunday: A few showers in the north and west. Mostly dry in the south and east.
