063 - Surah Al-Munafiqun - سورة المنافقون

Sūrah al-Munāfiqūn (سورة المنافقون), which translates to *"The Hypocrites,"* is the 63rd chapter of the Qur'an. It is a *Medinan* Sūrah, meaning it was revealed after the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) migration to Medina, during a time when the Muslim community had an established presence but also faced internal challenges from those who outwardly professed Islam while harboring disbelief and ill-will—the hypocrites. --- 🔑 *Key Themes and Content* The Sūrah is primarily dedicated to exposing and condemning the nature, characteristics, and actions of the hypocrites (**al-Munāfiqūn**). *Exposure of Hypocrisy (Verses 1-8):* It reveals that the hypocrites swear false oaths and give verbal testimony of faith, but God testifies that they are liars, since their hearts do not believe. They are described as people whose physical appearance and speech may be pleasing, but they are internally "as blocks of wood propped up" (worthless and hollow). They are shown to be the real enemies of the believers and are warned that seeking forgiveness for them will be in vain as God will not forgive them. The Sūrah recounts their efforts to discourage spending on the sincere believers and their statement that the "more honorable" (themselves) would expel the "meaner" (the sincere believers) from Medina, with God asserting that *all might and honor belong to God, His Messenger, and the believers.* *Admonition to Believers (Verses 9-11):* The Sūrah concludes with a direct warning and exhortation to the true believers. They are advised **not to let their wealth or children distract them from the remembrance of God**. A strong command is given to *spend in the way of God (give charity/Sadaqah)* before the inevitability of death arrives and they regret their inaction. ‪@ImranRaza-78686‬
