How Great Thou Art, Choir Practice, Key of Bb, SATB Rehearsal | John Irving

The Church has put music in the liturgy for a reason. It is important, and the congregation is invited to join in this important aspect of worship. Yet, too many people skip this aspect of participating in the worship service. Worship service is not a choir concert. The choir is not there for your entertainment or to take center stage. They are meant to lead the faithful in song, not sing for them. In fact, some agreed that the choir should be placed in the sanctuary in a place that makes it clear that they are a part of the congregation. The choir and the congregation are not separate entities. Together, they are charged with the laity’s duty to participate in the Worship service. The choir is not singing so you do not have to; they are singing to guide you in song. Sing with them.
