Contraceptive plan 1 month before in females - Dr. Sangeeta Gomes

Question is how to avoid pregnancy. Various methods can be followed. You can start oral contraceptive pill from the first day of period, and take daily one at night for the next 20 days. If you want to get menses, you can stop the pill and allow the withdrawal bleed to occur but if you do not want the menses to occur, you can continue with another new pack and stop it whenever you want to get menses. The other methods are long acting injectable progestins. They can have validity of 2 – 3 months. Long acting contraceptives are given intramuscularly within the first 5 days of periods. There are 2 types, one is DMPA which is taken once in 3 months, the other one is norethisterone enanthe which is taken once in two months. Please do not take medication without doctor’s advise. The doctor is the best person to decide for you as to what type of medication suits for you depending upon the body weight and the other diseases you are suffering with.
