How To Install Fabric Repair Tape on Your Fabric Shelter

A fabric repair tape is an adhesive tape that is made of the same fabric and is used to repair small hole or tear on a fabric shelter. In this video, Josh, our Project Manager, demonstrates the 5-step procedure and provides additional tips to get the most of your fabric repair. Hi, my name's josh and i'm the project manager here at Allshelter. Today we're going to demonstrate how to repair a tear or a hole in your fabric shelter. Fabric repair tape can be used to repair small holes and tears in your shelter fabric. Surface preparation prior to application is critical to ensuring you get a long lasting and high quality repair. The area should be washed using a brush or a cloth and warm soapy water. Ensure the fabric is then dried before giving a final wipe down with alcohol to remove any residual grease or oil. Measure the correct length of tape and cut neatly from the roll. Carefully peel the release liner off the back of the tape and apply to the affected area. Apply pressure evenly over the surface as you place to ensure maximum adhesion between the tape and the shelter. Some additional tips to get the most out of your fabric repair: the minimum outside temperature for an effective repair is zero degrees Celsius. If your area is colder than this while you're trying to do a repair you can use a heat gun to warm the fabric and the repair tape prior to application. Use a flat piece of timber or steel behind the repair tape to apply pressure to the area by using a round or smooth object and sliding along its length. This repair tape is best suited for managing small tears and cannot be used in place of heat welds or to hold two pieces of fabric together.
