Bankers, finance ministers and many stakeholders in economic development and growth are gathering in Washington for the annual International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings. A topic of concern for many African countries is the increasing debt burden and solutions for reducing the debt. VOA's Esther Githui-Ewart spoke with Sombo Muzata, a professor of public budgeting at James Madison University, who says the banks should look at long-term solutions to manage debt effectively.
