NATO braces as Russia-Ukraine war enters crucial year

Ukraine and its Western allies are gearing up for a leaders' meeting next week to discuss plans to end the war with Russia. It comes ahead of what is likely to be a crucial year. By the middle of the month, the war will become longer for Moscow than its involvement in World War Two. While polls suggest many in Russia expect the conflict to end in 2026, Europe is also planning its own responses, including nuclear hypersonic missiles being moved closer to the borders of the EU and NATO.
