It is the third game in the famous and successful "Super Mario Bros." series. In the game, the player controls Mario or Luigi, who attempt to free Princess Peach from the clutches of Bowser and the Koopalings by traveling through eight worlds, each consisting of several levels. The game offers a variety of power-ups that help players overcome obstacles and defeat enemies. In addition to the already familiar Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, and Super Star, a leaf is now also available, which transforms the plumbers into a tanooki, allowing them to take off into the air for a certain amount of time at high enough speed and thus skip difficult passages. Furthermore, a frog suit is now available, which provides advantages in water levels due to better control. More hidden are the Raccoon Suit, which grants temporary invulnerability in a statue pose at the expense of mobility, and the cool Hammer Brother Suit. There are also a variety of new enemies and bosses, most notably the seven Koopalings, rumored to be Bowser's children, who must be defeated to complete the game. The e-Reader Levels are new challenges introduced in the 2003 GBA remake "Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3." The required e-Reader is a device that can be used to scan special cards to unlock additional content in the game. Unfortunately, the device never appeared in Europe because it flopped in other markets. The e-Reader Levels are a collection of 36 new levels developed specifically for the remake and can be unlocked using the e-Reader. These new levels offer a new challenge for experienced players due to their increased difficulty.
