Kore-eda is one of my favourite directors stylistically; his family-based dramas feel so intimate and refreshing, and his cinema is truly incredible. I watched Shoplifters, and loved it, but it wasn't until I watched Monster from 2023 that I really found out that I have fallen in love with this director. monster blew me away more than any film from the 20s decade so far. its a masterpiece.
