ITN News 14 05 2009 President Obama urges the LTTE to lay down arms

The President has said that it is the most appropriate way of halting the conflict that harms the civilians as well. He stressed that the LTTE should stop enlisting innocent people including children for military activities. The President opined that the civilians should be allowed free movement by the LTTE. He has noted that the Sri Lankan Government should strengthen the relief programme implemented for the civilians. President Obama has stressed that the United States along with the world community will assist the programme of the Sri Lankan Government to provide humanitarian relief to the people.
