City considers building new salt dome as one facility deteriorates

The salt dome on Municipal has served Kansas City for about 30 years, and it's showing its age. The lining protecting the dome is peeling away and the conveyor system is constantly breaking down. The city is considering appropriating $1.5 million to build a new dome with a different design.
