USA - Briefing at Pentagon on US attack on Iraq

(3 Sep 1996) T/I 10:48:11 United States Defence Secretary William Perry said on Tuesday that the U.S. reserved the right to launch further attacks on Iraq. His warning followed an early-morning U.S. offensive in which 27 cruise missiles were directed at targets in southern Iraq. The U.S. offensive followed the incursion by Iraqi military forces at the weekend into the U.N. designated "safe haven" in the north of the country.
