Hi, John with etrailer. If you're ready to tow with your Palisade but you need trailer wiring, well check out this kit that we have from CURT. This is the CURT 4-pole Trailer Wiring Harness that we installed on our 2023 Hyundai Palisade. Now this kit is perfect for you if you're gonna be doing light duty towing and you don't need anything but just to transmit lighting signals to your trailer or your accessory. This is a 4-way flat. This is one of the most popular sizes for towing and for accessories that have lights on them as well. You're gonna get a ground, tail light, left and right turn, and brake signals. This is going to be transmitted from your vehicle to your trailer. The one nice thing about the CURT here is that it's a module. It is powered by the battery by itself and what that means for you is it's gonna just mimic the signals coming from your car and it's gonna power your accessory or trailer independently. So that's gonna protect the circuits on your car. If you do happen to get a short or a ground it's gonna be protected by the module that we installed. Now as far as installation goes you can absolutely do this at home. You have to pull out the taillights and we get underneath the car and run some wires. But I'll show you how to do it step by step. Stick around. Now to begin our installation we're going to remove our taillights. You're gonna have two access panels right here. We're gonna take a small pick. You can take a small slotted screwdriver too. We're just gonna pull that back and that's gonna expose a Phillips head 410 millimeter bolt. Now before I pull these out we just wanna make sure that we don't scratch the paint. Paint's still probably pretty soft on this and painter's tape is just cheap insurance. We're just gonna pull just like that, that wasn't too bad. And on the back side here we you're gonna see a connector with a tab. We're gonna push that tab down and unhook it here. Now we'll just repeat that same process over here on the passenger side. Now with the tail lights off, we're going to remove some of this factory tape to expose the wires. We're gonna be using a test light to figure out which wires do what. We're gonna be specifically looking for the stoplight and the turn signal and the taillight. So I just wanted to show you real quick how to pin this out. I've got a small piece of wire that I cut and I have a test light because we don't want to jam the tip of the test light into the connector. So we're just gonna touch the tip of this wire to the connector. Now I have a helper in the car and they've got the left turn signal on and I'm just simply touching to the top of the connectors, making sure to make contact. (connector beeping) And right there you can tell that that's the turn signal. And that wire is gonna be this one right here, the gray. Now we went ahead and did all of the ones on the left side. So we're looking at the left turn signal is gonna be the gray one here. The taillight is, they're all across the top here. The taillight is gonna be the green one, solid green. There is another green on here that has a black line on that, a black tracer. It's not that one, it's a solid green one. And then the brake will be the green with the orange tracer right here in the middle on the top. And this is all on the driver's side here. Now this is what your module looks like. This is a lot of wires, but we're not using them all right now. We'll just take this step by step. This bundle right here, this is a 4-way flat. We're not gonna use this until later. Right now what we're interested in is gonna be the yellow, the brown, and the red, because we're gonna fish these up on the driver's side from the bottom. The brown is your taillights, the red is your brake lights and the yellow is the turn signal. So I'm gonna take a fish wire, feed it down through here and then we're gonna pull these wires up through this opening. Just got a piece of nylon tubing here that I'm gonna run down and we'll make our connections and I'll tape 'em up at the bottom and I'll pull the wires through. If you don't have nylon tubing you can use a coat hanger. Underneath the car on the driver's side we have a panel that we're gonna take off and we'll put it back on when we're done.
