1321-DEN 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air Gateway Classic Cars of Denver

Gateway Classic Cars of Denver is thrilled to present this 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air. This survivor is is very solid and runs like a dream. The Blue Flame 125 CID inline 6 cylinder purrs like a kitten and the 2 speed powerglide shifts as smooth as butter. The interior is in great condition and is very comfortable and stylish. It is easy to see why these Bel Airs were so popular when you get behind the big steering wheel and gaze upon miles of shiny Chocolate paint and chrome anywhere and everywhere they could fit it! 1953 was the first year Bel Air referred to a trim level instead of an entirely different car and was when the Bel Air really took off as a legend leading to the tri-fives and of course the infamous 57 Chevy. When you can say a year and a make and everyone immediately knows what model you are talking about, it is a special car in the circle of collectors and hobbyist. The first generation Bel Air ranges from 1950-1954. Due to body and interior restyling from previous years. Most prefer the lines of the 53 and 54 from the first generation as they were streamlined and very luxurious looking. Tons of chrome, a two tone scheme with Bel Air script laid in between the side moldings, and a very appealing grill make it hard to find a visual flaw in this design. According to the VIN this car is a real Bel Air with a 6 cylinder from the factory. Hub caps, bias ply tires, cloth interior, and fender skirts complete the list of options on this cruiser. This Bel Air has chrome hub caps on those big white wall tires The Blue Flame 125 CID I6 is a fully pressurized lubrication system with shell type main bearings in lieu of poured babbitt and aluminum pistons were also introduced in 1953, but only in the higher-output Blue Flame version in cars ordered with the Powerglide transmission. 102  The alleged benefits of a "blue flame" rather than yellow had been touted in Chevrolet advertising since 1934.
