Michael Jackson's CENSORED song (and how SPIKE LEE SAVED it) | Chronicles

🔴 Welcome to Chronicles SUBSCRIBE! In 1995, Michael Jackson released "They Don't Care About Us," a musical protest that sparked controversy over accusations of anti-Semitism. Spike Lee defended the work and filmed two videos: one in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, where residents welcomed Jackson in the hope of making their problems visible, and another in a prison denouncing abuses. The song was a top 10 hit in Europe, but only reached number 30 in the US. After Jackson's death in 2009, his appearance at "This Is It" was cancelled. Today, it re-emerges as an anthem in social movements.
